The Wild Wild West

What Really Happened in Deadwood

Your Magnificent 7 is all about having fun on the tabletop, and producing a few lasting memories to boot.

The following is not a story, but real events, names may have been changed for dramatic purposes…

What led to this encounter on this fateful Friday the 13th in 1880.  The dreaded ‘angry faced’ outlaw band had been running amok, shooting up county sheriffs and their deputies, evening up scores with other outlaw and gunfighter bands.  In their last shoot ‘em up… an innocent bystander was shot dead, six feet under dead…  Now her family didn’t take kindly to such treatment and they made a beeline to Deadwood to explain to the outlaws that this just wasn’t cricket.

As the family marched across the town, an eerie silence fell, a shot rang out and Daisy May fell dead, slain by a single bullet.  The onlooking Town Deputy didn’t appear to notice the commotion, but Daisy May’s brother Jedd who was stood next to her was enraged.  He ran forwards towards the shooter, with cinematic speed and the help of a ‘jump cut’ he traversed a great distance.  Suddenly, on his right there appeared two more outlaws, Jedd levelled his shotgun, ready to shoot. With amazing speed the closest outlaw reacted, closing in ready to give him a good thumping; instinct alone saved Jedd and both barrels of his shotgun roared.  The outlaw went down, mortally wounded; at this point the situation becomes a bit hazy; it may have been caused the shotgun blast or the outlaw falling and hitting the ground hard, but the dynamite that was concealed upon the outlaw exploded! BOOM…

Jedd was suddenly, no more…  the second outlaw was rocked and thrown back by the blast, his ears ringing and bleeding.  Mrs Jackson at the Bakery wasn’t too impressed neither, as the rear of her store collapsed about her.

The explosion rocked the jailhouse, bringing the Town Marshal to his feet, immediately vacating the premises with his deputy they came across the body of poor Daisy May laying still in the street.  Gun shots were ringing out from all over the town as the ranch family sought justice against the outlaws.  On turning the corner of the law office on to 1st Trump Street; an outlaw collapsed to the ground, whilst pointing an accusing finger at Tedd the cowboy linesman, who held a smoking gun in his hand.  Mr Draper from the hardware store, instinctively drew his revolver and shot the linesman in the back, wounding him, he went down hard.

The Marshal sprang into action, warning Mr Draper away and cuffing Tedd, who failed to react in time to get away.  Turning up late, his deputy rounded the corner just in time to see the dishevelled Mrs Jackson crawling out of her once flourishing bakery; now it was light and airy, just like her cakes…

CUT…

This is just a brief snippet of the shoot ’em up… production that occurred this fateful night…
